Thank you so much Heather for being real and challenging all of us. 🙂

  2. You’re awesome, Heather. I know the people who “brought me to Christ” were those who sought to live according to God’s Word, but were transparent about their imperfections. It gave me hope that I could be like them one day. The “perfect” people felt too far away.

    Now I’m crying, darn it.

First off, thanks for posting this. I know that being vulnerable actually helps you have better relationships with people because it’s so much easier to relate to imperfection than to perfection, but I know I haven’t fully wrapped my head around that idea.

The video made me think about the first (and only, so far) time my fiance saw me in my pajamas, with no makeup on (we were at a youth workers’ retreat, and everybody was kind of hanging out before going to sleep). I remember feeling kind of weird about it at first, but I also remember the look of sheer love in his eyes as he saw a part of me for who I really am.

And then it made me think of my mom, because I know that there are pictures of herself on Facebook that she just hates. I know the way that she thinks about herself affects the way that I think about myself–I don’t know if you can inherit such things, but I do know that you learn what you see. It kind of breaks my heart because I want her to show herself grace, like you were talking about at the end of the video.

You’re beautiful, Heather: inside and out. What a change from the first video vlog!!! Thank you for being open, honest, and yourself…for being vulnerable and knowing that this YouTube could alter people’s thoughts they have of you. It’s made me get to know you better and it’s made me appreciate your character more. 🙂 Keep it up!

Thank you for being honest, this inspired me. Honestly I try to make people like me because I am not very confident in myself but this really encouraged me to be myself. Thanks

Such amazing truth spoken here.. I’m tired of trying to be who the world and social media says I need to be.

  13. Sarah says:

And we think you’re amazing!!!!! (No, these exclamation points are really warranted, not tacky.)
Thank you, tonight isn’t my best night.

Real. True. Honest. Take some time to watch this brave heart share her thoughts on being “picture perfect”. I don’t know about you…but I choose the messy!
